Ahmed Abou Hashima Elected Chairman of the Senate’s Economic, Financial and Investment Affairs Committee

Senator Ahmed Abou Hashima has been elected Chairman of the Economic, Financial and Investment Affairs Committee of the Egyptian Senate for the first session of the second legislative term.

The committee elections also resulted in the appointment of Senators Sahar Nasr and Amany Fakher as Deputy Chairs, while Senator Ashraf Abdel Ghani was elected as Secretary.

The Senate conducted elections today for the leadership bureaus of its specialized committees, each comprising a chairman, two deputies, and a secretary. The process encompassed all 14 specialized committees, marking a significant milestone in establishing the internal institutional framework of the Senate for its new legislative term.

The Senate’s specialized committees represent diverse sectors across political, economic, social, and cultural domains. These include the Constitutional and Legislative Affairs Committee, the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee, the Arab and Foreign Affairs Committee, the Education and Scientific Research Committee, and the Health and Population Committee, among others that form the cornerstone of parliamentary work within the chamber.

The formation of specialized committees constitutes a fundamental step in launching the Senate’s legislative and oversight functions. Each committee is mandated to examine matters and draft legislation referred to it, preparing comprehensive reports for presentation to plenary sessions. This structure reinforces the Senate’s legislative role in supporting the development and reform agenda of the New Republic.
