Senate President Thanks Abou Hashima and the Economic Committee for Their Efforts on the Amendments to the Competition Protection Law and Their Historic Report on the Legislation

In an appreciative gesture witnessed in the main chamber of the Egyptian Senate, Counselor Essam Farid, President of the Senate, extended his thanks and appreciation to Senator Ahmed Abou Hashima, Chairman of the Financial, Economic and Investment Affairs Committee, and to the committee members for their exceptional efforts in studying and preparing the report on the draft law amending certain provisions of the Competition Protection and Prevention of Monopolistic Practices Law.

Parliamentary Praise for a “Historic Report”

Members of the Senate described the report presented by the committee as a “historic report,” praising the accuracy and professionalism with which it was prepared, as well as the insightful economic vision it reflected, placing the interests of the state and citizens above all considerations.

The Senate President affirmed that this legislative work represents a valuable addition to the Egyptian state’s economic agenda and reflects the committee’s awareness of global challenges and the appropriate legal solutions required to address them.

For his part, Senator Ahmed Abou Hashima expressed his pride in the Senate President’s recognition, stressing that the Economic Committee always places the interests of the national economy at the forefront of its priorities.

He noted that the report was the outcome of extensive technical discussions, primarily aimed at developing legislation that prevents monopolistic practices and encourages investment, while safeguarding consumer rights and motivating companies to innovate and grow.

Final Approval and Referral to the House of Representatives

The Senate had announced its final approval of the draft law, after which Counselor Essam Farid directed that the report and the draft law be referred to the House of Representatives.

He considered the work presented by the Economic Committee, under the chairmanship of Senator Ahmed Abou Hashima, to be an important reference in parliamentary work related to major economic legislation.
